Industry and Employment
The Western Galilee region contains industrial plants in concentrations higher than the national average. These production plants require adaptation to the new employment market and concurrently it is necessary to bring to the region thousands of innovative workplaces from further areas as an additional condition for attracting new populations and retaining the local youngsters.
Doing
Partnering in providing skills to the youngsters of the City of Nahariya, from preschoolers to those who haves reached working age, in order to adapt them to the changing world of employment. Connecting between employers and jobseekers, and supporting the Erez College which conducts training intended to upgrade the skills of employees in the industry.
Objective
To create new and attractive workplaces and concurrently provide massive training for the region’s youngsters which is required for the current worlds of employment.
Productive industry is operating on a large scale in the northern region, comprising more than a third of Israel’s total industrial revenue, and about a third of it is located in the district of the City of Acre.
20% of the Western Galilee residents are employed in traditional industries and therefore the “fourth industrial revolution” constitutes an inseparable part of the adaptations that must be carried out by the region. The productive industries suffer from low productivity, in parallel with the erosion of technological education and the attractiveness of the industry as a place of employment and careers. Raising the productivity is a condition for reducing the gaps as well as raising salaries and the standard of living. Both managers and employees must acquire a set of new skills.
The “Spirit of the Galilee” Project is partner to promoting processes intended for converting production plants to Industry 4.0 – assimilating innovative technologies for the production lines. The Erez College is a partner of “Spirit of the Galilee” and it leads the advancement of human capital training for Industry 4.0 and the assimilation of innovativeness. Contemporarily, the world of employment is changing and young people must be provided with a variety of qualitative workplaces. We began promoting, along with our partners, a project aimed at providing learning skills from an early age in Nahariya and we harnessed the “Aharai” (Follow Me) Non-Profit Organization to operate for the first in the region with its graduates, in order to train them and integrate them into the modern labor market.
